TE WAIROA E WHANAKE |
WAIROA VISITOR INFORMATION CENTRE

The new Wairoa Visitor Information Centre is a key component of the revitalization of Wairoa’s town center, made possible through the support of the Provincial Growth Fund and the Wairoa District Council.

This project involves the earthquake strengthening and refurbishment of an existing single-story building, transforming it into the new Wairoa iSite. Adhering to a conventional approach ensures timely delivery and adherence to budgetary constraints, reflecting the unique challenges of the local context.

The design emphasizes sustainability by preserving and reusing existing structures, incorporating external rigid insulation for all walls, and upgrading the concrete slab and foundations wherever feasible.

From an urban design perspective, relocating the iSite along the scenic riverfront on Marine Parade aims to enhance the visitor experience and increase pedestrian activity in the town center.

The new facility will include essential amenities for the visitor center, as well as hot desks and flexible spaces for various community uses.

The project aims for completion in early 2025.
